Sparkling Ice: Yes, We Can

SparklingICE_Can_8oz_CLTalking Rain Beverage Co. today announced the launch of a new 8 oz. slim can for its Sparkling Ice line of zero-calorie carbonated drinks. The new package is designed to broaden the “distribution opportunities for the brand within the convenience and foodservice industries,” according to a company release.

Sparkling Ice reached nearly $400 million in measured multi-outlet and C-store sales of its 17 oz. plastic-bottled drinks (including the lemonade sub-line) during the 52-week period ending on Feb. 22, according to IRI, a Chicago-based market research firm.

Available in 8-packs with a suggested retail price of $5.99, the can will come in four varieties: Black Raspberry, Orange Mango, Kiwi Strawberry, and Cherry Limeade. While Talking Rain’s distribution strategy is aimed at expanding the brand’s presence in C-stores and foodservice outlets, the multi-pack will make its debut next month at mass retailers Walmart and Target, as well as grocers Kroger, Publix and Albertson’s.

Kevin Klock, CEO, Talking Rain, said in the release that the new pack is a direct response “to increased demand for smaller, more convenient beverage options.” Klock also hinted at a “ bold new program surrounding this new format offering,” ostensibly one launched in the coming months.
