Deep presence in the natural channel? Check. National distribution? Check. Chain authorization in mainstream retailers? Check. In less than two years, Mamma Chia has racked up an impressive set of wins and shows no signs of slowing down with the recent announcement that the company has gained distribution in 150 Ralph’s stores in Southern California. Ralph’s joins Giant Eagle, Fairway and Vons as mainstream grocers that now carry the organic chia drink, along with thousands of natural retailers across the U.S. including Whole Foods, Wegmans, and Sprouts.
With sights set on new distribution in mainstream and hybrid retail channels, Mamma Chia founder and CEO Janie Hoffman hopes to utilize and propel growing awareness and demand for chia products to reach new consumers. And as it has within the natural channel, Hoffman said that the company will look to carve the path for the nascent chia category in conventional grocers.
“We are duplicating our disciplined and focused approach that proved so successful for us in the natural channel into our mainstream retailers,” Hoffman said. “It is already producing positive results, and we are constantly receiving great feedback.”
