BevNET TV: A Brief Look at the Legal Landscape

If you joined us at last week’s BevNET Live Summer ’13 conference, or watched our live video stream coverage of event, you were likely a witness to our very first talk show. Yes, you heard/saw that right: we launched a talk show.

Held during the Expo portion of BevNET Live and filmed from within the cozy confines of the New Beverage Showdown lounge, we spoke with a range of attendees at the event including a few of the semifinalists that took part in the beverage competition, as well as several industry insiders, consultants and executives.

Our first guest, Justin Prochnow, an attorney with Greenberg Traurig LLP who specializes in regulation affecting the beverage industry, offered up a brief look at some of the most current and pressing legal issues facing beverage brands.

Watch as Prochnow discusses the critical importance of determining whether to label a product with a “Supplement Facts” versus a “Nutritional Facts” panel and the potential risks associated with each. Prochnow also weighs in on recent comments from the attorney representing the family of Anais Fournier, the Maryland teen whose death is allegedly tied to her consumption of two Monster Energy drinks in a 24 hour period.
