NEW YORK, NY, November 19, 2013 – Today’s launch of the new premium 100 percent pure platinum Baron Tequila from Baron Spirits International gives tequila enthusiasts a pre-Thanksgiving reason to be grateful. This newcomer stands out in a crowded category with its handcrafted small batch production origins in Tequila, Jalisco, Mexico, where it is made of 100% prime agave and triple distilled. Baron contains no additives and is certified gluten-free, as well as kosher.
Born of a woman’s desire to build a business for her children after battling cancer, Baron founder Jana Khaimoff embarked on a two-year tequila fact-finding experience to determine the attributes that would characterize the category’s next premier product. First and foremost was selecting the right production partner that exemplified the same core values as Khaimoff and her family. To that end, she wisely chose the family-owned and operated Ansan Distillery where 20-years of experience oversees each step of the process – from growing and harvesting the agave to the triple distillation and bottling. Khaimoff’s vision for the purity of the final product was clear and Ansan made it a reality.
“Family businesses are important to me,” notes Khaimoff who runs the business with her husband. “To find a partner who has passed down this trade for generations represents exactly why I created this company in the first place.”
Baron has achieved a uniquely, clean smooth taste through a 100% organic natural process maximizing the power of the agave itself. After 10 years of growth, Ansan harvests the prime heads of agave for production ensuring the allotment for Baron’s batch is the highest quality. The prime heads are then slow cooked at low heat to assure the caramelization of all their sugar. The hand-guided pot-still distillation cooks off the volatiles (impurities) leaving only the “heart.” With each of the three distillations, the resulting extract gets cleaner and cleaner achieving a zero-zero taste profile; eliminating any bad odor and bitter taste. Unlike industrial producers, Baron is able to achieve a pure taste without the use of glycerin or other additives. To assure consistency, a panel of three tasting experts samples each batch to confirm it matches the original.
Baron’s Master Tequilier David Ruiz likens it to the creation of any premium, luxury product saying, “Whether you are making a luxury watch, a car or even a piece of clothing, the artisans in each category seek to use the very best of each component and never sacrifice quality for cost or volume. The same holds true for Baron.”
Illustrating Ruiz’s point, the hands on production process, which is key to the overall craftsmanship, continues at Ansan to the bottling of Baron. Starting with Khaimoff’s original vision for an ornate, yet classic design, Ansan’s glassblowers first select the best quality glass possible and then engage in what they call a “four-touch” process guiding the glass into shape utilizing both human touch and sophisticated machinery to mold the ornate design directly into the glass itself. The 750ml bottle features decorative floral embellishments wrapping around the bottom and sides of the bottle, while the top boasts an engraved version of the Baron logo featuring two dragons* flanking an agave plant.
Upon launch, Baron Tequila will be available in New York City at high-end restaurants such as Butter on 45th Street and Teqa on Third Avenue in Murray Hill, as well as popular nightlife venues including 1OAK. Select liquor retailers including Winfield-Flynn will also carry Baron at a suggested retail price of $55.00.

*In Spanish, Baron refers to a magnate or mogul, a nobleman in some cases; a higher power. The project to create Baron began during the year of the dragon, considered by the Chinese to be the luckiest. Indeed, many Eastern cultures associate dragons with wisdom and outstanding people. Khaimoff immediately felt a connection and synergy between the symbolism of the dragon and the name of Baron.
