Terlato Wines Adds Adelphi Single-Cask Aged Scotch Whisky to New Artisan Spirits Portfolio

LAKE BLUFF, Ill., Feb. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Terlato Wines, a leading U.S. marketer of luxury wines and spirits, announced the newest addition to its Artisan Spirits Portfolio: the rare single-malt, single-cask Scotch whiskies of Adelphi Distillery Limited. Terlato signed an exclusive, long-term agreement to import and market an elite selection of Adelphi’s aged Scotch whiskies in the U.S.

“Adelphi represents the pinnacle of the single-malt, single-cask Scotch category,” said Terlato Wines CEO William A. Terlato.  “Adelphi Sales and Marketing Manager Alex Bruce and his team share the same high standards of excellence that we do and their passion runs deep for Scotch whisky.  After tasting Adelphi’s offerings, we are pleased to offer this product, which will capture connoisseurs’ attention in the growing super-premium Scotch whisky category.”

Adelphi, based in Ardnamurchan, Argyll, in the Scottish Highlands sources and bottles an exclusive collection of super-premium single-malt, single-cask Scotch whiskies from the most respected distilleries in Scotland.  The Adelphi Nosing Team is chaired by globally recognized Whisky Expert Charles Maclean.  On average, only one of every 40 barrel samples tasted is selected for bottling by Adelphi.  Each selection is made by judging the unique characteristics bestowed by individual casks, resulting in rare bottlings that represent a completely unique and authentic expression of a given distillery and a given cask.

“From our first meeting, we understood Terlato was the right partner to help us grow our business in the U.S.,” said Alex Bruce of Adelphi.  “We both have a ‘no-compromises’ philosophy when it comes to quality.  Their success in luxury marketing is proven, and coupled with their excellent industry relationships, we are in a great position to bring Adelphi Scotch Whiskies to America’s most discerning Scotch Whisky enthusiasts.”

Terlato will release limited quantities of Adelphi Scotch whiskies four times each year.  The inaugural Adelphi Selection release will feature four whiskies: Highland Park, 14 Years Old (SRP: $170); Adelphi Selection: Bunnahabhain, 21 Years Old (SRP: $220); Adelphi Selection: Glen Grant, 23 Years Old (SRP: $285); and Adelphi Selection: Bennriach, 32 Years Old (SRP: $475).

Adelphi is known by Scotch Whisky enthusiasts for finding and offering extremely unique, unadulterated Scotch Whiskies.  They have earned 41 medals over the last nine years at the international Malt Maniacs Whisky competition, and the winter 2014 issue of Whisky Advocate describes Adelphi, saying, “Each independent bottler has its own signature style.  Adelphi’s is about relaxed, contemplative drams with rich maturity and a certain seriousness.”
