W. Amsler Expands Convertible PET Reheat Line For Higher-Output Bottle Production Needs

RICHMOND HILL, Ontario, July 9, 2010 – Amsler Equipment Inc., a leading Canadian manufacturer of all-electric, reheat stretch-blow molding machines based in Richmond Hill, Ont., has expanded its line of convertible machines with the introduction of the L32 reheat stretch-blow molding machine. The three-cavity all-electric unit meets the high-output needs of custom blow molders of PET containers with small to medium size requirements.

For custom blow molders, the new three-cavity machine delivers flexibility, lower power consumption, and easy operation, offering production of up to 40 million bottles per year. “With the same compact footprint as a two-cavity, this versatile 3-cavity machine can replace a conventional two-cavity for a slight upcharge,” according to president Werner Amsler.

The L32 convertible is hydraulic-free and features servo-driven electric stretch rods rather than the pneumatic type. At a rate of 3600 2-L bottles per hour, the machine produces 50% more 2-L containers than a two-cavity unit. It can also be used to run one-cavity and two-cavity molds for production of 5-L and 3-L containers, respectively. Neck sizes range up to 48 mm. The L32 convertible employs the same oven configuration as a two-cavity except that preforms can be spaced closer together, thus offering greater heating and more energy efficiency than a two-cavity.

The machine also has a 30-ton servo-driven mold clamping system and a servo preform indexing system. The new model offers unique advantages compared to hydraulics. It delivers high output per cavity, energy savings of up to 50%, greater precision, smaller footprint, faster speed, reduced maintenance, and quicker mold changeovers, according to Amsler. An air-recovery system and hot-fill capability is also available.

The first commercial unit has been sold to a blow molder in the greater Toronto area.
