Secaucus, NJ (June 1, 2011 ) – Martin Bauer Inc., the U.S. office of the Martin Bauer Group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Petra Tanos to a dual role in extract sales and in promoting the company’s sustainability and CSR programs. In her primary role as Extract Sales Manager, she is responsible for helping grow sales of Martin Bauer’s broad range of tea and botanical extracts in North America.
“Petra brings to Martin Bauer Inc. substantial knowledge from the sustainability side of our business, which is becoming of greater interest to our customers,” states Gary Vorsheim, Director of Extract Sales for Martin Bauer Inc. in Secaucus, New Jersey.
Ms. Tanos brings solid experience in managing customer relationships in the coffee, cocoa, tea and fruit industries as well as a practical understanding of sustainability issues, which she gained from her successful tenure as Coordinator, Sustainable Value Chains, at the Rainforest Alliance. The Rainforest Alliance is an international nonprofit organization that works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods through a market-driven certification program. Ms. Tanos will utilize her experience in developing markets for sustainable ingredients grown on Rainforest Alliance Certified farms to help Martin Bauer further its commitment to sustainable sourcing and to help customers leverage certification programs.
Ms. Tanos also brings a strong background in food studies, having earned a degree in Gastronomic Sciences/Food Studies at the Slow Food University of Gastronomic Sciences in Bra, Italy. In addition, she has published articles on food ingredients and the important relationship between quality and sustainability in such publications as The Art of Eating and Tea & Coffee Trade Journal.
