CarrierDirect and One Stop Critical Launch Latest in Cold Chain Innovation

CHICAGO — CarrierDirect has partnered with One Stop Critical to launch the latest in Cold Chain innovation: the Critical Cube. This new technology provides shippers the ability to move their less-than-truckload temperature sensitive freight on dry van carriers, dramatically improving the speed and service level for critical shipments.

With the Critical Cube, shippers no longer need to wait for a Reefer LTL carrier to consolidate loads or pay for a dedicated truck. Shippers can use the Cube to move their temperature sensitive freight in the faster, more reliable dry van infrastructure. Using liquid C02 and a digital controller, the unit can actively maintain temperatures as low as negative 30 degrees Fahrenheit for up to 5 days (while maintaining a +/-2 degrees F), making it the perfect solution for moving products intra-state or coast-to-coast.

“There is literally no other product out there that offers such extensive capabilities and opportunities for shippers and carriers,” said Jett McCandless, President and Founder of CarrierDirect. “As innovators in the transportation and logistics arena, we are honored to be involved at the root stage of this phenomenal technology and make it available to our clients.”

The Critical Cube is environmentally friendly and American made, consisting entirely of FDA and USDA approved fiberglass, stainless steel and insulation. The infrastructure is able to withstand all the challenges of moving high-value or sensitive products, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals and food products. There is seventy-seven cubic feet of loadable space, making it large enough to fit any standard-sized pallet up to 60 inches tall, but compact enough to move two units side-by-side in a trailer.

“We are tremendously excited about this relationship with CarrierDirect and the opportunity to partner in taking the Critical Cube to the market, ” says Kirk Stevens, President of One Stop Critical. “The reception of the Cube in the market has been extraordinary, and being able to offer it to CarrierDirect’s clientele will surely help to expand our footprint and expose more shippers to the high value services that we offer.”

The Critical Cube is currently available for intra-California shipments, and will be introduced to other geographies across the U.S. in late-2013 and early 2014.
