Rehrig Pacific Company Releases Case Study on Reusable Secondary Packaging

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – April 7, 2015 – Rehrig Pacific Company, a world leader in logistics optimization is pleased to release a new case study evaluating two different methods for direct store delivery (DSD) and reusable secondary packaging.

“The purpose of this study was to gather objective data for comparing reusable packaging vs. one-way packaging –specifically comparing their use for the delivery of small format, single-serve, and immediate consumption beverage products,” said Brian Lindell, Vice President of Beverage at Rehrig Pacific. “Using Rehrig Pacific’s Retail Ready Merchandisers with this specific DSD method, we were able to achieve significant cost savings from the amount of time saved during the delivery process.”

Four cases of 20 oz. Gatorade (24 units per case) and twelve cases of 28 oz. Gatorade (15 units per case) were used in the field tests to determine the length of time required to merchandise Gatorade products into refrigerated cases and dispose of corrugate and shrink-wrap. “Using a distributor’s existing delivery method, we were able to gather comparable results in each delivery method and calculate the potential cost savings associated with each,” added Lindell.

The study concludes with the validation of reusable secondary packaging measurably improving beverage routing efficiencies and overall productivity.
