Mark Hall, President -DSD Hansen Beverage, disclosed a sale of 80,000 shares on 3/12 at $36.34, and Chairman/CEO Rodney Sacks and President Hilton Schlosberg disclosed a sale of 50,000 shares on 3/13 at $36.69 through Hilrod Holdings. Link China rejected Coca-Cola Co.’s $2.3 billion bid for China Huiyuan Juice Group Ltd., saying the biggest foreign takeover of a Chinese company would have been “negative for competition.” Coca-Cola, which can appeal the decision, won’t proceed with the takeover. Link Frutarom reports record sales of US$ 473.3 M for the year 2008 – a growth of 25% compared with 2007, excluding the effect of the strengthening of European currencies and the Shekel against the US dollar. Link Coke said it provided $12,500 worth of products to its 14 directors. That’s a nearly 80 percent increase over the amount that the company spent in 2007. Three years after Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said city departments should not spend taxpayer money on bottled water, several municipal agencies have increased their purchases of it. Link A Montana state bill banning the sale of alcoholic energy drinks in supermarkets passed its third reading by a 54-45 vote. Link Coke Chairman E. Neville Isdell joined former U.S. Sen. Bill Frist in Washington to issue a “declaration” that outlines how the Obama administration and big businesses should address global water woes. Link Opponents of legislation to expand bottle deposits to water, juice and other non-carbonated drinks in New York have taken to the airwaves with an ad campaign saying the only significant result would be higher prices. Link Maine’s highest court has sided with Nestle Waters North America Inc. in the bottled water company’s efforts to expand its operations in western Maine. Link

TNT Marketing, Inc., a national convenience store broker, has signed an agreement with Play Beverages, LLC to market its Playboy Energy Drinks to convenience stores. Link Innovative Beverage Group Holdings, Inc. announced that it has signed a deal with Wil Fischer Companies to expand distribution of drank to Southwest Missouri. The theme of World Water Day 2009, celebrated on Sunday, March 22, will be “Transboundary Waters.” Link The company in possession of a historic Missouri Coca-Cola Syrup Plant snagged $1.2 million in remediation tax credits through the Brownfield Redevelopment Program. Redevelopment plans call for turning the structure into a mixed-use development of ground floor commercial space and condominium units. Link A man has filed suit against Coca-Cola and one of its employees, alleging he was injured after a collision. Link U.K. bottled water sales plunged by nine percent last year due to poor weather, the credit crunch and increasing environmental awareness. Link The Coca-Cola bottler in Venezuela has agreed to hand over a parking lot it used as a distribution center to the government in Caracas. Link Don Diehl, editor of the Jenks (Okla.) Journal, said he’s swearing off Pepsi because “execs running the company have chosen to support (with money that I and other consumers have profited them with) some of the most hateful, anti-family, anti-God, anti-Bible and anti-church political radicals in the country.” Link Bay Area Beverage Company completed the installation of a 500-kW solar power system, one of the largest in the region.
