BevNET Review: 12 Gauge Energy Shot’s “Kick Ass Cola” is a zero calorie energy whose most notable attribute is its shotgun shell shaped container. However, the cola flavor that’s inside the bottle is definitely something different – and it’s a welcome change from the medicinal flavor found in so many other energy shots on the market today. In a non-carbonated format, cola doesn’t have the same effect on the palate as it does when carbonated (there’s less depth to it – and, therefore, less enjoyment). Functionally, the product’s energy blend includes B vitamins, taurine, malic acid, caffeine, glucuronolactone, N-acetyl-L, L-tyrosine, L-phenylalanine, and a proprietary enzyme blend. While they don’t disclose how much of each these ingredients is inside the bottle, the product definitely packs some kick. Packaging, which as we mentioned earlier is in the shape of a shotgun shell. For us, their heavy use of novelty undermines the credibility of the product. We think that it’s the type of product that will inspire consumers to purchase it for amusement or shock value more than anything else. Overall, it’s not a bad product in terms of flavor or function, but their packaging and branding choices definitely run the risk of limiting its potential. Reviewed on: 10/5/2010
