Black Cow Vanilla Creme Rootbeer

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 32 fl oz (947 ml) glass bottle
BevNET Review: In a land of many premium root beers, it's important for a product to have a reason for being. In the case of Druther's, it's not obvious what that reason is, unless it's purely the cow found on the label. We're doubtful that a cow is going to inspire root beer sales -- unless the product is solely marketed for use in root beer floats (probably not the best business decision). What's inside the bottle is basically your standard-fare "premium" root beer that can be found in countless other products. Perhaps the funkiness of the black cow will mean that this product is more memorable than the other brands out there, but we can't help but think that this product needs something else if it's going to have success.Reviewed on: 3/28/2006

Red Cow Creme Soda

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 12 fl oz (355 ml) glass bottle
BevNET Review: Featuring a bright red color and a label that features the product's namesake, Red Cow is most definitely a unique take on creme soda. We can't help but ask ourselves "What does a red cow have to do with creme soda?" Honestly, we haven't the slightest clue, but it's something that will, at minimum, inspire some curious buys. Beyond that, the marketability and mass-appeal of this product are certainly debatable, but it's still a decent entry into the premium CSD category. The flavor is simple, but refreshing, although we'd love to see what this product would taste like if it used sugar instead of corn syrup.Reviewed on: 3/28/2006

Orange Cow Creme Soda

Product Type:Carbonated Soft Drink: Regular; Container: 12 fl oz (355 ml) glass bottle
BevNET Review: Orange Cow is Druther's take at the classic orange creme soda. If you like orange creme sodas a lot, you'll probably like this one too as it more or less tastes like every other HFCS sweetened orange creme we've ever tried. Unlike the root beer, the image of the cow actually makes some sense on a product that's supposed to be "creme" based. It has a decent old-fashioned looking label, that will likely appeal consumers that are looking for the taste of nostalgia. All in all, it's a decent product that fits into the lower end of the premium CSD category. Improved packaging and better ingredients would certainly improve this product.Reviewed on: 3/28/2006
