Apple White

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz (480 ml)
BevNET Review: True Brew's Apple White Tea is a pretty decent tasting product, especially since you can taste both the tea and apple flavors. On the other hand, if they dialed down the apple just a bit, we think that this would be an even better product. Still, it's got a high quality taste, which is no surprise given the use of organic brewed tea, organic flavors, and organic cane sugar. On the outside, there's a bit too much emphasis on the apple imagery and there are no visual elements promoting the tea. We recommend that this be changed in future renditions. Overall, pleasant taste and packaging, but definitely has room for improvement.Reviewed on: 2/22/2008

Hibiscus Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz (480 ml)
BevNET Review: Hibiscus Tea is another one of the more enjoyable flavors of the True Brew line. The organic certified product features a variety of soothing flavors, including hibiscus tea, cinnamon, orange peel, and lemon myrtle, all of which have been sweetened with cane sugar. The resulting mixture tastes very pleasing. The proprietary 16 fl oz bottle is relatively attractive looking, especially with the addition of red hibiscus flowers to the front of the label. Unlike some of the other flavors, the graphics make it quite obvious as to what you can expect inside in the bottle. Overall, this is definitely one of the better executed flavors of the lineup.Reviewed on: 2/22/2008

Peach White

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz (480 ml)
BevNET Review: Peach is a fixture of just about every iced tea line and True Brew is no exception. Their take on peach tea uses a base of white tea, cane sugar, and natural flavors. The result? Well, there's a decent amount of tea flavor and the peach doesn't overwhelm it, but the product does have a somewhat pasty finish. That, of course, is not what we like to see in flavored iced teas. Definitely not our favorite flavor of the brand.Reviewed on: 2/22/2008

Strawberry White

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz (480 ml)
BevNET Review: As far as strawberry flavored beverages go, this one actually tastes quite natural, although it probably still doesn't pass for the real thing. The tea, on the other hand, is a flavorful and smooth brew of white peony and hibiscus. The mixture of the fruit and tea flavors works well, especially since they achieved what we believe to be a nice balance between the two. Packaging could definitely be improved upon, especially since the label is covered with strawberries and there's nothing representing the tea. Otherwise, it's a pretty enjoyable product.Reviewed on: 2/22/2008

Cranberry Orange

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz (480 ml)
BevNET Review: True Brew has really undersold this product. Labeling the product "Cranberry Orange Iced Tea", one would expect this to be a cranberry and orange flavored black tea. Fortunately, that's far from the truth -- the product uses chamomile, hibiscus, rose hips, and orange peel as well as natural flavors. The blend has an enjoyable flavor that's complex and smooth, making it one of the stronger flavors of the brand. The sweetness profile is somewhere in the middle of the less sweet super premium products and the very sweet mainstream ones, so it seems like a well placed product. However, we think that True Brew needs to make this more evident to the consumer who is looking at this product amongst other competitors. Otherwise, we'd keep it just the way it is.Reviewed on: 2/22/2008

Green Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz (480 ml)
BevNET Review: This variety of True Brew is one of our favorites of the brand. The reasons are the simplicity of the product (only three ingredients) and the overall execution of the flavor. It features a high quality brew of organic green tea that's sweetened with organic cane sugar. The brew is clean and refreshing, with only a mild grassy note hitting your palate about half way through. Packaging is clean and easy to understand, with green tea leaves prominently placed on the front panel. However, it still feels a little similar to Honest Tea in terms of the horizontal stripes, but otherwise we think that the product feels like a legit premium product. Overall, really nice flavor and packaging that's above average.Reviewed on: 2/22/2008

Sweet Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 16 fl oz (480 ml)
BevNET Review: True Brew's Sweet Tea is a technically sound brew of organic black tea and cane sugar. It has a smooth and sweet body that's clean and enjoyable, and we appreciate the simplicity of a product made with only three ingredients. However, the outside of the bottle feels a bit unfinished. The black and white bars feel reminiscent of Honest Tea which, while probably not intentional, won't help this brand achieve its own identity. In addition, the "high antioxidant brew" claim isn't promoted properly or substantiated. Overall, it's nice tasting, but improved packaging is going to be needed for this brand to stand out.Reviewed on: 2/22/2008

Unsweetened Tea

Product Type:Tea: Unsweetened; Container: 16 fl oz (480 ml)
BevNET Review: Our first issue with this product is the packaging, which features two yellow bars, a yellow backed logo, and two glasses of iced tea with lemon in them. What's the point? Well, it looks an awful lot like a design for a lemon flavored tea. As for inside the bottle, it's straight up brewed organic black tea. No sweetener, no lemon. From our point of view, that's a pretty crowded market that doesn't have the mainstream potential that sweetened lemon flavored tea does. Plus, this product isn't as good as some of those other established premium brands. So, you can guess what our recommendation is -- change this to lemon flavored tea and add some sugar.
