If you remember what it's like to drink something with real sugar and not High Fructose Corn Syrup, this is it. You had to talk a swig and couldn't drink the whole thing because the sugar told you stomach to STOP. Great with BBQ! Slaw dogs or just to watch the game. Bold flavor, not watered down or weak. No bite. Not everyone carries it, even in Louisiana.
I'm not a fan of rootbeer, but this one won me over. Try it on a hot day, served in a frosted mug. Extra points if you've been walking the Garden District on a muggy day in June. Better yet, order two!
This is a very tasty root beer, quite unlike any other I've sampled. The taste is very clean and not heavy on the wintergreen (which I only like in birch beer). The cane sugar provides a pleasant bite and the carbonation level is just right. I'd prefer a higher intensity level of the same flavor (it failed the "float test"), which is why I didn't rate it higher. However, I'll definitely be buying more and would recommend it to other root beer lovers. Definitely my favorite "non-creamy" root beer.
I think Abita's beers on average are not stellar, but their rootbeer is really good. I got this on draught at a greasy spoon and it went perfectly with the food. Great taste and mouthfeel, with a nice lasting finish.
