Product Type: Carbonated Soft Drink: Diet; Container: 12 oz glass
BevNET Review: Diet versions of premium CSDs often fail to live up to the original, and while we would still side with the full strength variety of Ale-8-One, Diet Ale-8-One is a pretty solid offering. Using the popular blend of sucralose (Splenda brand) and acesulfame potassium, the product manages to deliver a full bodied sweetness with minimal aftertaste. The only thing that's missing (versus the full strength variety) is the overall strength and richness of flavor. Packaging is good, but suffers from the washed out look (in the form of a white label) that beverage companies often give to diet products. The proprietary glass bottle gives the brand a premium and nostalgic feeling (courtesy of the raised "1926" on the glass). Overall, a solid diet CSD entry.
