BevNET Review: Alkazone is billed as an “electrolyte enhanced water with minerals,” but what they really seem to have set out to do is create a water that is more technically advanced than your standard bottled water. In addition to having electrolytes, it has antioxidants and is PH 9.5 alkalinity. While we can’t test the product or tell you that this water is in fact better than what’s out there, it does seem like it has all of the elements that are currently trending in the water category. However, they way that they’ve positioned it is very technical, right down to the name Alkazone and the visual treatment that they’ve chosen. That’s very different than the rest of the market, which is selling both functional elements and image. As it stands right now, Alkazone is at least in need of some label improvement, with a large spot on the front of the bottle being completely empty (the area between the logo and “AntioxidantWater.com”). The current product simply feels too technical, to the point where consumers will probably need to be educated as to what Alkazone is all about. Making it feel more personable and stylish would certainly reduce this need. Overall, we appreciate what they are trying to do, but hope that they can evolve the package design so that the message gets across better.Reviewed on: 10/30/2012
