Anchorhead’s ready-to-drink cold-brew coffee is a non-GMO and fair trade product that has been produced without flavoring or sweetener. It’s a bold but smooth product, which is exactly what we’ve come to expect from high quality cold-brew coffee. But much like the many other cold brews coming to market, it’s really hard to say that this one is better than what’s already out there. This leaves the packaging, positioning, and general availability as the key differentiators for the product. While it’s nice to see that the product uses fair trade ingredients and is Non-GMO certified, the product otherwise lacks anything that are obvious differentiators over the competition. Again, it feels like other cold brew coffees out there, which is to say that it’s definitely a worthy choice, but not one that is strong enough to have an extremely loyal following. As for the design, it’s polished and clean, with a style that feels reminiscent of a craft beer. This certainly speaks to the artisanal origins of the product, which is a definitely a good thing. However, we’re not sure that the use of a 12 oz. non-resealable bottle is good choice compared to the alternatives. Overall, Anchorhead is a good cold brew, but as we’ve stated, we really wonder if the company has done enough for the brand to stand out.
