Whereas the “Original” variety of Anchorhead Cold Brew tastes like your standard fare cold-brew coffee, its Hopped product is something that’s totally unique and memorable. We admittedly weren’t sure how the union of cold brew and hops, which have a naturally bitter flavor, would work, but we were pleasantly surprised. The bitter but floral flavor of the hops adds a second layer of flavor to the product, which results in something that has much more depth and complexity than their original variety. Still, we’re not sure that we’d want to drink this as an everyday replacement for regular coffee. All in all, we really appreciate the uniqueness of what they’ve created, especially since it doesn’t add any calories or sugar to the mix. Visually, the product has a look that feels like something out of the craft beer category. Also, we wonder if there might be some confusion with Anchor Brewing -- at least for the hopped variety. Otherwise, it’s a clean and minimalist look that utilizes a trending hipster design element: an anchor. We also like how the company has incorporated hops into the label. Overall, one of the more unique tasting cold-brew products that we’ve had, and it has sound execution to boot.
