BevNET Review: Angels Aphroenergy is an “aphrodisiac and energy” supplement that comes packaged in an 8.4 oz can. From a flavor perspective, the product uses sugar, sucralose, and ace-K as its sweeteners and tastes very much like a diet energy drink. It’s middle of the road in flavor -- there are energy drinks that taste better and plenty that taste worse. But Angels Aphroenergy is not a product that is going to be consumed for its superior flavor. Functionally, the product has caffeine, taurine, B vitamins and a host of other herbal ingredients. The aphrodisiac function is derived from added horny goat weed, damiana, L-arginine, and yohimbe. All of these ingredients can be purchased in supplement form and all of them have previously appeared in drink form. Regardless of the product performing, we think that this product has very limited marketability due to its intended use occasion (which will certainly limit its shelf space over more common products like energy drinks). On the branding front, what they’ve created is certainly clean, but it feels sterile and lacking personality or emotion. That said, it’s hard to identify with or feel strongly about the branding. Overall, the execution gets a passing grade, but the product is built on the shaky foundation of a function that consumers will want for an infrequent use occasion. Reviewed on: 2/18/2013
