Aquadopa is a non-carbonated supplement drink whose tagline is “beyond energy.” The functional ingredients in this product include mucuna pruriens seed extract, N-acetyl-L-tyrosine, ginkgo, green tea extract, ginseng, caffeine, quercetin and ginger root. All of these are focused on L-Dopa, an amino acid, which is what the marketer uses as the foundation for its “focus, motivation, and drive” claim. The product tastes like ginseng mixed with some other herbal flavor, and is sugar-sweetened, which certainly helps as does its choice of going non-carbonated. Still, this product is far from being one that will win you over simply on flavor. That said, the biggest challenge for Aquadopa is in articulating its benefit and educating the consumer on its primary ingredient. And those who are educated about L-Dopa, what will lure them to this product versus a supplement in pill form? As such, we think there’s a lot of work to be done with this product’s packaging and branding. For starters, it feels very technical to the point of being somewhat off-putting in its name and logo design. Plus, being in an energy drink can with a “beyond energy” tagline would, at least at a quick glance, make you think that this is an energy drink. It’s no easy task, but the company needs to figure out how to make this product easy to understand and appealing. If it can’t do that, then it’s an ingredient that probably isn’t suitable to be in a ready-to-drink form.
