Aquation

Manufacturer's Brand Overview [Edit]

Brilliant Water. Brighter Smile. Aquation is pioneering a much-needed niche in the natural beverage industry; fluoride-free, xylitol-enhanced bottled water with documented benefits that prevent and possibly reverse oral health problems associated with sugary drinks and diets. Aquation’s Sweet Tree Xylitol™ is non-GMO and sustainably derived from American Birch trees with a 90% lower carbon footprint than corncob xylitol. The infusion of xylitol and electrolytes into ultra-purified spring water also creates a uniquely crisp and refreshing flavor profile. Recommended by leading dental professionals, like Dr. Chris Kammer, Aquation is positioned to reenergize the enhanced water category. Drinking Aquation is a great way for adults and children to enhance their healthy lifestyles.

BevNET Review: Aquation is xylitol-enhanced beverage that was designed with the intent of helping to improve oral health. Claiming to be “recommended by dental professionals,” this product, which is labeled as having 2 calories per 8 ounce serving, has an extremely subtle flavor. It’s so subtle, in fact, that if you are drinking this with food you probably won’t even taste it. And what is the flavor? While the label appears to show mint leaves, the flavor is simply xylitol, which, as a sugar alcohol, tastes almost like sugar. That said, it’s really not that much different than drinking water. From a psychological point of view, we’re not sure if it’s good or bad that you can’t taste something that might lead your mind into believing that there’s something at work inside this drink. And after looking at the packaging, which bears a very technical looking design, we were definitely expecting something that tasted like a functional beverage. Otherwise, the packaging is just too busy and lacking in the personality department. As it stands right now, it feels like something that belongs in a drugstore for a specific use occassion (related to oral health, presumably). Overall, the execution of this product is decent, but the niche that it’s targeting feels very limited. Reviewed on: 9/24/2012
