BevNET Review: Made with 10 percent juice, including pear, apple, mango and peach, and sweetened with a blend of high fructose corn syrup, honey, and Splenda, AZ Energy has a pleasant tasting, almost tropical flavor, with the fruit helping to mask the flavors of the Splenda and functional ingredients. There’s no tea in the mix, which is something that one might expect from Arizona. Plus, we’re left feeling like the flavor of this product isn’t overly exceptional compared to the countless other juice enhanced energy drinks out there. Functionally, the product has 100mg of caffeine, 1000mg of taurine, vitamin C, B vitamins, ginseng, L-carnitine, guarana, glucuronolactone, and milk thistle. Like most energy drinks the caffeine punch is what you’re going to feel – and this product has a fair amount of it. Packaging has an urban feel to it, with a graffiti backdrop and a crown placed on top of the AZ logo. However, it’s not easy to tell what the product is going to taste like since there’s no mention of flavor on the front of the can. Overall, it tastes good, it has kick, and a nice looking can, but it certainly could use something a bit more innovative in the mix.Reviewed on: 5/5/2010

BevNET Review: Despite the Low Carb trend being somewhat of a relic, AZ Energy “Low Carb” is a recent entry from the Arizona Beverage Company. Made with 3 percnet juice and sweetened with Splenda and a touch of honey, the product has a surprisingly light and clean flavor. That’s not bad for a product with only 10 calories per serving. Otherwise, the fruit flavor is mellower than its counterpart's, resulting in a lighter mouth feel and a more crisp finish. Like the full-calorie version, this product’s functional cocktail features 100mg of caffeine, 1000mg of taurine, vitamin C, B vitamins, ginseng, L-carnitine, guarana, glucuronolactone, and milk thistle. Packaging is a 16 oz. can that utilizes a white, blue, black, and gold color palate and aggressive, urban graphics. For the style of design, it’s well executed, with a clean organization to the text that’s on the can. However, the lack of a flavor name and the use of “low carb” seem like areas where the product could potentially be improved. Overall, it’s a good product, but we think it has the potential to be better with some small improvements.Reviewed on: 5/5/2010
