BevNET Review: Bazi (pronounced “Bah-zee”) is an energy shot that is billed as being “healthy for the mind and body.” What’s actually inside the bottle is a formulation that uses eight different superfruits, twelve vitamins, their “Bazi trace mineral blend,” and standard energy shot ingredients such as caffeine and inositol. The liquid itself is bright orange and slightly thick, with a tart fruit flavor that’s very strong in comparison to other energy shots. So while you might quickly knock back a standard energy shot, this one is almost more of a sipper – it’s too tart to drink quickly. Fortunately, it’s a taste that grows on you quickly, especially with its sugar and pear juice sweetened formula and the light bite that hits you on the way out. Functionally, there’s loads of stuff going on inside this bottle. Utilizing 80 mg of caffeine (the standard for energy drinks/ shots), the product certainly has some energy kick to it. Beyond that, the nutritional panel (correction, supplement panel) is loaded with a dizzying array of functional ingredients. Bazi hasn’t done a great job of explaining what these things are or for, which, to a certain extent makes for something that might scare away or confuse consumers. In particular, there are things, like “PHYTO8 ENERGY,” which just don’t add anything, in our opinion. On the packaging front, the red label and white text make for something that’s visually clean, but the amount of text that’s on the front panel results in something that looks rather busy. Otherwise, it’s something that looks and feels like other energy shots, which is a bit of a shame given the unique nature of what’s inside the bottle. Overall, we really like what’s on the inside of the bottle, but it seems like the packaging could be punched up a bit.Reviewed on: 9/10/2010
