Manufacturer's Brand Overview: [Edit]
With the 2005 introduction of Beaver Buzz, a Dam Good Canadian Energy Drink, competitors were forced to re-think their entire beverage strategy. Due to the great success of Beaver Buzz, there is now a diverse portfolio of 6 Canadian Buzz Energy products that offer exceptional taste profiles, sustainable energy boosts, quality ingredients, and innovative package designs. The Beaver Buzz can was designed to celebrate Canada's roots. The Canadian maple leaf adorns the original Citrus can, as well as a mischievious Beaver gripping his hockey stick. The beaver is recognized worldwide as Canada's National Animal. We invite our American friends to enjoy Canada's Energy Drink.

Black Currant Energy
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 12 fl oz can
BevNET Review:
It's hard to say whether or not black currant is going to appeal to the type of consumer that is likely to down a Beaver Buzz, but fortunately for Beaver Buzz, they've managed to pull together an enjoyable drink. The product has a bold tart fruit flavor, which actually does taste like black currant. There's also a slight note of energy to the drink's finish, which should help it have credibility with those consumers that do try it. Packaging uses an all black can, which makes for a slick looking can, but on the other hand, the front panel is somewhat text heavy and lacks a visual element to promote the black currant flavor. Overall, we really like the taste, but the packaging feels like it needs a bit more.

Big Buzz Energy
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 16 fl oz (473 ml) can
BevNET Review:
Beaver Buzz has added a 16-ounce variety to their lineup, which has been appropriately named "Canadian Big Buzz". The flavor has been improved over its original formulation, which has resulted in a more pronounced and enjoyable berry flavor. The packaging uses a standard 16 oz. can with a giant Canadian maple leaf in the background. The color combination has "pop" and the use of the red Canadian maple leaf gives the product an attractive look. However, we could do without the cartoon beaver on the bottom of the can.

Green Machine Energy
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 16 oz can
BevNET Review:
Beaver Buzz's Green Machine is an apple flavored energy drink packaged in a 16 oz. can. Unlike most other green apple energy drinks we've sampled, Green Machine uses a carbonated formula, which results in a more pronounced bite throughout. The flavor is moderately sweet and has a crisp finish. Packaging isn't as good as the other varieties, mainly due to the fact that the Canadian aspect of the product feels like it has been downplayed in the current color scheme. In addition, we're not big fans of the cartoon beaver image on the front, which is rather distracting from an otherwise clean looking product.

Green Tea
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 12 fl oz can
BevNET Review:
Beaver Buzz's non-carbonated green-tea / energy hybrid looks and feels a lot like an energy drink, but tastes almost entirely like a tea. If you've ever had ice tea from an aluminum can (e.g. Nestea), then the flavor of Beaver Buzz will be very familiar to you. While it's certainly obvious that this is a tea based drink, there's only minimal green tea flavor, with the product tasting much more like a black tea. This is likely due to the high level of sweetness and the energy ingredients (guarana, ginseng, caffeine) which hide the typically light flavor of green tea. Overall, Beaver Buzz Green Tea is a nice tasting product as far as energy drinks go, but it tastes a bit too much like canned iced tea for our liking.

Saskatoon Beaver Buzz Berry Energy
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 250 ml can
BevNET Review:
Beaver Buzz's Saskatoon Berry is a great tasting energy drink -- but if memory serves us correctly, it tastes very similar to another Canadian energy drink called Diablo. Perhaps strong, sweet berry flavored energy drinks are a Canadian thing? Either way, this product's tart berry flavor is best compared to a carbonated juice cocktail. There isn't really any "energy" flavor, which may negatively impact the way that consumers perceive its energy enhancing abilities. The blue can is clean, but we prefer the original Beaver Buzz's red color. Still, this product definitely lives up to its "DAM GOOD" tag line and with a little packaging help it could definitely sell well.

Canadian Beaver Buzz Citrus Energy
Category: Energy: Regular; Packaging: 250 ml can
BevNET Review:
Beaver Buzz is one of the sweeter citrus energy drinks that we've sampled in recent memory, but for whatever reason it really worked for us. The sweet citrus flavor is very CSD-like but also has the requisite energy drink bite to it. In any event, it's an extremely palatable beverage to consume. As far as the brand and packaging go, the Canadian themed Beaver Buzz highlights Canada's favorite animal in it's branding and exhibits humor in its logo (e.g. "DAM GOOD"). The can uses red and black colors to create an attractive and clean look. All in all, the product distinguishes itself from the pack pretty well by not using overly aggressive or male-oriented images. Combine that with a solid citrus flavor and you've got a product with a lot of potential.
