Product Type:Dairy: Smoothie and Shakes; Container: 8 fl oz (237 ml) glass bottle
BevNET Review: If you've ever had Ben & Jerry's ice cream, you'll definitely recognize the flavor of this product. It literally tastes like melted Ben & Jerry's ice cream, complete with a thick consistency that pours slowly from the bottle. Fortunately, they didn't skimp on the quality of ingredients -- this beverage relies on real sugar, milk, and cream, plus they used rice starch, rather than gums, which thickens the product without impacting the flavor. Overall, we are technically very pleased with formulation. The biggest issue is the fact that it has 340 calories and 12 grams of fat per bottle. Still, if it’s a shelf stable milkshake that you want, this is second to none. As for the packaging and branding, Pepsi has wisely tried to mimic its success with the Starbucks products by using the Ben & Jerry's name on this product. It has a premium feeling that is definitely true to the Ben & Jerry's name. Overall, a job well done -- but a reduction in calories wouldn't hurt.Reviewed on: 7/28/2006

+ Show Product ReviewCherry Garcia

Product Type:Dairy: Smoothie and Shakes; Container: 8 fl oz (237 ml) glass bottle
BevNET Review: Cherry Garcia is also relatively similar to the ice cream of the same name, but something seems a bit off. There's a slight tinge of flavor that seems medicinal in nature. Otherwise, you've got a well done product that's made with real sugar, milk, cream, other flavors, and rice starch (for thickening). It's supposed to have chocolate notes, but we can't taste them -- straight cherries and cream is what we taste. It's flavorful and very very rich -- 320 calories / 12 g of fat -- so this isn't the type of product that you should consume terribly often. Overall, this is really an indulgence product -- the type that someone consumes as a treat or on an infrequent basis -- which is OK as that lines up pretty well with the Ben & Jerry's brand name. The look is good, the bottle is easy to hold, and the flavor is, for the most part, well done.Reviewed on: 7/27/2006

+ Show Product ReviewChunky Monkey

Product Type:Dairy: Smoothie and Shakes; Container: 8 fl oz (237 ml) glass bottle
BevNET Review: Chunky Monkey is a milkshake beverage made with chocolate and banana flavors. Unfortunately, the banana flavor really overpowers the other flavors, leaving the product tasting like banana milk and leaving the drinker high and dry in terms of chocolate flavor. The rich, thick flavor only furthers the problem as you continue to consume the beverage. At a certain point, it's as if you are consuming banana bread batter rather than a beverage. The thickness just doesn't work well in this beverage. We think they should shelve this flavor and create a new variety with a chocolate and nut based flavor.Reviewed on: 7/27/2006
