I grew up in Texas and was raised drinking BIG RED... There is no other drink like it... I moved to NYC 8 yrs ago where it is not sold... So for the last 8 yrs I have been shipping this red pleasure to NYC... Now the problem is that all my friends are hooked on the drink and I keep running... lol... Erica
You can find this all over the Wal-Marts, gas stations, and even some bookstores in plastic bottle form. Me, I'm a diehard blue cream fan, down with red cream, down with BigRed. :p Ok, it's not horrible...but it just doesn't do it for me....I even like green cream better.. (it does exist)..
YOU GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.....YOU GUYS LIKE THIS STUFF?
It may be great in Texas it totally sucks in Florida. How about that diet big read....KILL ME NOW.....ba carefull not to get it on a piece of clothing it will stain it for life...no joke.

barqs cream soda? NOT!!!!!!!!!!!
Barqs red cream soda is barqs red cream soda, a big red copycat. it was orignally called sun tang red soda. i grew up on big red in louisville, ky. its the best in the world. you can get it delivered to your home from http://store.drsoda.com. they deliver via ups up to 150lbs
This is available in Des Moines, IA and environs. In fact, I just saw Big Red, Big Pineapple, and Big Peach at a local supermarket recently.
I like it, it isn't quite cream, not bubble gum exactly. I think bubble gum is to soda pop what chicken is to describing the taste of lizard and gator and such (though I'm a vegetarian, lol), it's the flavour we think of for generically sweet and creamy.
Big Red is a bit like the Vess Cream I grew up with in the St. Louis area, only perhaps a bit more tart, and of course, not as magenta, nothing not nuclear could be. I think it's a great alternative to other cream sodas, especially since I was weaned on red cream, not white/amber.
For those who keep track, we have it here in 12 can fridgepacks, and some petrol stations have it in 16 oz (or maybe 20, I forget now) individual plastic bottles.
Big Red was invented in Waco, Texas, just like Dr Pepper. Personally, I don't like Big Red, but I love their logo! Their history is here: http://www.bigredltd.com/history
I used to be able to find this at a pizza place in Washington and I once saw it at a Target store in Utah, but that's it. I did drink it quite a bit when I lived in WA though and I liked it a lot. Oh and it does have a bubblegummy flavor ... so there.
Although I'm not in Texas(I'm in California), I've run into this soda once or twice at the local ethnic markets. Not only does this soda always catch my eye with it's unusual color, it always costs less than other sodas(don't know why). Aside from that it's nice, sweet, and the taste is unlike anything else on the market! I honestly don't understand why this soda isn't more common, since it's really good and I would honestly love to be able to buy it at my local supermarket.
I beg to differ with those who say it tastes like cherry! NO IT DOESN'T. IT'S A BLEND OF BUBBLE GUM AND CREAM FLAVOR! Can not find this in NY at all, used to have it when I was younger(ha ha) just found it on e bay for 6 bucks but only after paying 16 bucks + shipping for 1 6 pack :( Oh, well it was still worth it!) Where can I find the maker to beg them to send it up here? ANYONE?
I have lived all over the U.S. and have only seen it in Texas. My brother and sister and I would experience Big Red as kids when we'd visit relatives in Hondo Texas (60 miles west of San Antonio). I have never seen it anywhere else. It took us awhile to figure out that the taste was bubble gum--even tho' it is distinctly so! Anytime that we are in Texas, we have to have one for old times sake. By the way, it is something of a "bubble-gum cream soda" not just a bubble gum soda.
Forget what they say about not being a "gourmet soda". Get some of this stuff into your face! Even if you have to go to Texas! Its their best kept secret!
By the way, in what other regions is this soda sold?
litterally...He like...made it...so technically every drink is the drink of God...not important. Big Red is the best freakin drink ever! it DOES NOT taste like bubble gum! freakers! i have learned that Big Red is only in Texas! which makes every other state suck. if you hate Big Red then you're gay/jewish/not-Texan
I have drank this soda for a little over 18 years (off and on); I absolutely love strawberries and Cream Sodas.. Perfect drink type as it mixes them both evenly.
Sometimes words escape you, and trying to explain the greatness of a bubblegum flavored soda is one of those times for me. You either get it or you don't.
I love big red. I came upon this website because I was actually searching to see who the manufacturer of this product is. It is very hard to come by where I live, and I wish it were easier to get. I think it is awesome.
Big Red is one of its kind as far as taste goes! I have had this sent to me by friends while I was in Guam and Puerto Rico! I am totally hooked on this drink!
