Bionic Boink

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Diet; Container: 8 fl oz
BevNET Review: Bionic Boink is an energy drink that is billed as a "cayenne energy infusion." Cayenne pepper is certainly a new one as far as selling points go, so we were anxious to this product. Inside the bottle, this zero calorie sugar free (sucralose and ace-k are the sweeteners) non-carbonated blend features a moderately sweet herbal flavor with a fair amount of sweetener aftertaste. There's some noticeable spice to the body, but it doesn't have any heat to it, but it does have noticeable particles suspended in the bright green liquid. Other notable additives are maca root, yerba mate, gotu kola, green tea, and taurine -- more or less your standard fare ingredients. The product delivers a decent boost, but the average taste and the lingering aftertaste left something to be desired. We'd same the same for the packaging, which uses an 8 ounce format that looks like a giant version of an energy shot bottle. The Boink logo looks nice, but the packaging looks busy -- and too green -- making it hard to read. Overall, a good concept, but the execution needs work.
