Black O-pium Energy Drink Carbonated

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 250 ml can
BevNET Review: A lightly carbonated energy drink that uses the same formula (with the exception of carbonated water) as its non-carbonated counterpart. Featuring a light blue color and reishi mushroom extract, this product tries to offer something different in the way of flavor. It succeeds, but we could live without the blue coloring. The package is vibrant and funky looking, but we aren't quite sure what to make of the name "Black O-pium". Whether intended or not, it will likely imply some sort of drug reference, which will certainly alienate some consumers. Overall, a decent drink, but we think that the branding can be improved.

Black O-pium Energy Drink Non-Carbonated

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 250 ml can
BevNET Review: Despite success in Asia, non-carbonated energy drinks in amber glass bottles have never really gained traction in North America. When you try this product, you'll see why. In a non carbonated format, this product looks and feels like an apothecary potion. The flavor is sweet and strong, leaving us a bit overwhelmed with the syrupy character. Perhaps it will have some niche appeal, but we think that the package, lack of carbonation, and use of "opium" in the name will make this product have trouble in mainstream channels.
