BluePrint Juice

Manufacturer's Brand Overview [Edit]

Launched in 2007 by Founder Zoe Sakoutis and Co-Founder Erica Huss, BluePrint is the pioneering line of 100% organic, raw fruit and vegetable juices. The company includes BluePrintCleanse, the line of juice cleanses designed to detoxify and purify the body; BluePrintJuice, the line of juices sold in individual bottles and available in select retail outlets and online; and BluePrintBar, a healthy and delicious fruit and nut bar sold exclusively through FreshDirect. BluePrintCleanse was created to offer varying levels of intensity depending on one’s dietary habits and history. It’s a user-friendly system of cleansing set up to be practical for all nutritional lifestyles, from the most austere of raw food acolytes to the burger-and-red-wine crowd looking to periodically offset the damages of their indulgence. BluePrint’s juices and bars are delivered to homes and offices in the U.S. and Canada, and are also available at select retail outlets.

Product Type:Juice: Fruit Juice; Container: 16oz Plastic
BevNET Review: Since the first time we tried BluePrint’s “Green” variety (the predecessor to this SKU), a lot has changed. Juice cleanses are en vogue, high pressure processed juice is gaining momentum, and countless other brands have entered the space. And of course, BluePrint itself has been acquired by Hain Celestial. Fortunately, BluePrint hasn’t sat still having revised its greens product to be more balanced and consistent. The balance that we’re referring to is the blend of leafy greens and the apple, both of which help keep the other from overpowering the palate. And despite having nine different ingredients, you can taste each one. That’s always the sign of a good product in our book. Like the rest of the brand, this product is “raw” and unpasteurized, but has undergone high pressure processing, and the super fresh taste of an unpasteurized product is highly addictive. While the shelf life isn’t extremely long, it’s certainly longer (and safer) than a completely raw product. Visually, we are still fans of the ingredients list as the product name approach. It’s definitely an effective way to hammer home that this is a straightforward product that doesn’t have any junk in it. If anything, we’d like to see the BluePrint name get a little more prominent billing than it currently has. Overall, an exceptional product that is worth every penny. Reviewed on: 4/11/2013

Lime Ginger Lemon Agave

Product Type:Juice: Fruit Juice; Container: 16oz Plastic
BevNET Review: The Lime Ginger Lemon Agave flavor is one of the more recent additions to the BluePrint lineup, and it’s definitely a good one. It’s essentially a modernized lemonade, with the lime and ginger giving the product an enjoyable twist. Specifically, the lime does a great job of enhancing the depth of the citrus flavor, while the ginger gives it a complementary note of heat at the end. It’s much more enjoyable than the sweet and sour of ordinary lemonade. Unlike some of BluePrint’s other products, this variety has added agave, but they’ve kept it under control and the formulation is very balanced. Visually, we like the very clean and simple look of the bottle. Lacking any fruit images and being completely transparent, the design really focuses on the simplicity and quality of what’s inside the package. However, there isn’t really a lot of visual differentiation between the lemon cayenne flavor and this one, so consumers will be forced to look closely before picking a flavor. Overall, a very enjoyable addition to the lineup. Reviewed on: 4/11/2013

Pineapple Apple Mint

Product Type:Juice: Fruit Juice; Container: 16oz Plastic
BevNET Review: BluePrint’s “Pineapple Apple Mint” (formerly “Golden Pineapple Apple Mint”) is a raw and high pressure processed (a process that uses pressure rather than heat as pasteurization does) blend of pineapple juice, apple, and mint. The flavor of this product is straightforward and refreshing, with each of the three ingredients (pineapple, apple, and mint) easily distinguished from the mix. More importantly, the use of high pressure processing leaves the flavors tasting super fresh to the point where it blows away any pasteurized juice on the market. Visually, the clear packaging and minimalist label work are a good complement to the juices inside the bottle. However, we think that a little more effort to develop the brand could be done without sacrificing this approach. As it stands right now, sticker shock (this product has a retail price of $9) might be the only thing keeping some consumers from thinking that it’s a store brand. Overall, punching up the label would make this a five star product -- it’s that close to perfection.Reviewed on: 4/11/2013

Cashew Milk

Product Type:Dairy: Flavored Milk; Container: 16 oz PET
BevNET Review: A new addition to the Blue Print Cleanse drink lineup is their cashew milk. The milk is a simple blend of water, cashew, agave nectar, vanilla bean and cinnamon. The result is a very satisfying dairy-free milk drink. The blend of vanilla bean and cinnamon is complemented by the agave. This combo really helps define the flavor profile and certainly sets it apart from other flavored milks. Blue Print Cleanse cashew milk comes packaged in a 16 oz. clear PET bottle. The clear bottle really shows off the white color of the milk (a certain departure from the other PBC juices) which adds a nice design element. The simple blue label features a rather large #6 at the top. There is no reference to what the number represents anywhere on the package, which left us scratching our head a bit. However, the product name as well as the ingredients are listed neatly and clearly in the middle of the label. The ingredient list, as well as the brand name, are in a simple font which compliments the minimalist package design. Overall, Blue Print Cleanse Cashew Milk is a delicious dairy alternative or meal replacement beverageReviewed on: 1/25/2012

P.A.M.

Product Type:Juice: Fruit Juice; Container: 16 oz PET
BevNET Review: Combining just three ingredients, Blue Print Cleanse P.A.M. is about as straightforward as you can get. The product name is the initials of the ingredients -- pineapple, apple and mint. This blend yields a refreshing product. The mint is a nice balance to the pineapple juice, which is usually very sweet. The apple seems like an odd pairing, but its flavor is really masked by the combo of pineapple and mint. This juice drink is not for the sugar-conscious: it clocks in at 45g per 16 oz. bottle (210 calories). The juice comes packaged in a clear 16 oz. PET bottle. The clear bottle does not hide the fact that this product settles, but with a quick shake the muted yellow tone is consistent throughout. The blue label is very minimal in design. It supports simple white text which shows the ingredient list as well as the brand name. On the top of the label a clear #2 is the most eye catching element of the label design. However, the reason for having the number goes unexplained. Overall P.A.M. is a simple and refreshing juice drink. Our only suggestion would be to further explain the number.Reviewed on: 1/25/2012

Green

Product Type:Juice: Fruit Juice; Container: 16 oz PET
BevNET Review: Made with unpasteurized raw ingredients, including romaine, celery, cucumber, apple, spinach, kale, parsley, lemon, and ginger, Blue Print’s “Green” is designed as a cleanse product. Since the ingredients are raw, the drink is both pricey and has a very short shelf life (3 days). From a flavor perspective, the product is oddly addictive, with a strong vegetable flavor that eventually gives way to a slightly sweet gingery finish. The balance of the two flavors is what makes this product something unique, enjoyable, and very smooth. That’s much more than we can say for your typical “green” smoothie beverage. Packaging is a clear 16 oz. PET bottle with a blue cap and minimalist lettering on a clear label. They’ve placed all the ingredients on the front of the bottle, which speaks directly to the product’s raw and honest formulation. Perhaps the only thing that’s slightly unappealing is the drink’s color, but that obviously cannot be changed with the chosen ingredients. All in all, this is an amazing product for what it is, which is a niche, super premium, high priced (over $6 at retail) juice product. Definitely worth a try if you see it. Reviewed on: 6/9/2011

Red

Product Type:Juice: Fruit Juice; Container: 16 oz PET
BevNET Review: Blue Print’s “Red” is a mixture of apple, carrot, beet, lemon, and ginger juices, all of which are completely raw (meaning no pasteurization of any kind). There’s a slight vegetal note (from the beets and carrots) to the mix, but it quickly subsides and the apple and lemon take over. The ginger adds a nice hit of spice to the finish, which is a nice way to round things out. Red definitely has the heaviest mouth feel of the three Blue Print flavors that we sampled, so it might not be the best variety to start out with. Packaging is an attractive 16 oz. PET bottle. We like the minimalist look of the label – it’s perfect for what this product is. Finally, there’s the price point, which, at over $5 per bottle, is extremely pricey. Overall, a very well executed product. Reviewed on: 6/9/2011

Yellow

Product Type:Juice: Fruit Juice; Container: 16 oz PET
BevNET Review: Of the bunch, Blue Print’s “Yellow” is the only variety that uses added water. That said, this product has the lightest flavor and body of the bunch. Flavor wise, it drinks like a super premium lemonade, with the lack of pasteurization giving the product a very fresh and clean flavor (it also limits the product to a 3 day shelf life). The cayenne is very restrained to the point that you can barely taste the spice, while the added agave adds only a light amount of sweetness. On the packaging front, the product’s 16 oz. bottle is appealing and nice, but the light blue color used on the text is hard to read against the pale yellow backdrop that’s provided by the liquid. The positioning of the product as a cleanse juice, its high price point (over $5 a bottle), and extremely limited shelf life are certainly limiting this product to a specific niche of people, but it’s still the best tasting bottled lemonade that we’ve ever had.Reviewed on: 6/9/2011
