Review: BooKoo Energy Drink

BooKoo Energy Drink uses a very similar (if not the same) formula as The Love Factor's successful Pure Power Energy Drink, but is packaged in a re-branded 24 ounce can. Promising to be the "biggest, baddest" energy drink, BooKoo's package (a category first) is truly that and can be summed up in one word: gigantic. The distinct citrus flavor is very good while the three serving size creates an attractive value proposition to the consumer. We definitely give Love Factor some credit for being an innovator with the new package size, but we also most consider how a package of this size might fit the category. Naysayers will likely bring up issues similar to those that the 16 ounce category faced in its early days. Specifically, the lack of a re-sealable closure and the increased height of the can. BooKoo has the opportunity to quiet those folks if it is able to perform well through its deal with 7-11, which gives the product national exposure. Overall, BooKoo enters the category with a good taste and an attractive image and only time will tell us if the 24 ounce can will be the next big thing for the energy drink category.
