BevNET Review: Bossa Nova’s Acai with Pomegranate juice beverage is an organic drink comprised of 80 percent juice. The taste is quite enjoyable, with the pomegranate providing a nice complement to the acai. The tartness usually found in other “superfruit” beverages is subtle and adds to the balance of tart and sweet instead of pummeling your palette. Aside from acai and pomegranate concentrates, the product is sweetened only with organic agave nectar. The agave also plays an intricate part in the tart and sweet balance as well, adding a distinct sweetness that rounds out the finish. This drink is packaged in a clear 10 oz. PET bottle, which features a clean looking label that has a retro (late 60’s early 70’s) style to it. This clean approach is supported by an ornate flower-like wrap, which encloses the top of the beverage and provides an interesting and welcoming touch. Overall this is an enjoyable product and an easy addition to an already strong Bossa Nova lineup. Reviewed on: 6/2/2011

BevNET Review: Despite the name implying there are only two fruits used in this, there are actually four: mangosteen, passionfruit, guava, and peach. The reason that we call this out is that all of these flavors are easily identifiable in the mix, which actually makes for something that’s much better tasting than mangosteen and passionfruit might be. The guava and peach, which add guava “grit” and peach “fuzz” really make the drink, while the mangosteen and passionfruit provide a decent base of flavor. We realize that there’s something to be said for naming consistency, but they’re selling this one short as this is, technically speaking, our favorite flavor of the entire brand. Plus, we like the lighter colored liquid, which stands out amongst the other darker colored flavors. However, it’s hard to say just how marketable a mangosteen variety is, especially when it’s competing other Bossa Nova flavors that incorporate more recognizable and appealing flavors. Overall, this is technically their best work, but we’re doubtful that this will actually be their best seller based on the current naming of the drink.Reviewed on: 5/7/2009

BevNET Review: Fortunately for this product, the tart cherry juice flavor takes center stage over the goji berry. It’s mildly sweet and has only a mild tartness to it, which, in comparison to straight tart cherry juice, is quite easy to drink. The goji adds its trademark vegetal flavor to the finish, letting your palate know that this trendy superfruit is present in the drink. Overall, it’s an extremely palatable mixture that is one of the better goji-enhanced drinks that we’ve sampled. The exterior of the drink looks clean and polished, with a red hued theme that pairs well with the red liquid inside the bottle. We like the busy shrink wrap that’s over the cap, which adds some contrast to the easy to read front panel of the drink. Definitely one of our favorite flavors of the line. Reviewed on: 5/7/2009

BevNET Review: The Bossa Nova Superfruit line has two acerola juice flavors – and the Acerola Juice with Mango variety is our definite favorite of the two. It pairs the relatively delicate flavor of acerola with the sweet flavor of mango, which results in a slightly viscous mixture that’s big on mango flavor. The influence of the acerola juice is definitely there, but it’s in muted form, which is probably okay as far as mainstream appeal is concerned. Further on that point, we're not sure if the brand really needs two acerola juices, based on the relative obscurity of this flavor. Still, the technical execution of this product is really good, especially factoring in the very nicely designed bottle. Definitely some of Bossa Nova’s better work.Reviewed on: 5/7/2009

BevNET Review: This is our favorite flavor of the Bossa Nova acai flavors. As the name implies, this product is a very enjoyable mixture of acai juice and blueberry juice, with agave nectar, natural flavors, and citric acid. The mild base of acai is nicely complemented by the addition of the blueberry, which adds both a new dimension of flavor and takes some of the emphasis away from the quality of the acai juice. However, we’d love to see just a touch more blueberry flavor to the mix, which would help the product achieve an even more natural tasting flavor. Packaging is just like the other Bossa Nova flavors, which means that it’s attractive and distinct, with a cool looking 10 oz. bottle that has just a touch of flair. In addition, blueberry should also add a bit of appeal to this product based on its well known antioxidant benefits. Overall, the best of the acai flavors.Reviewed on: 5/7/2009

BevNET Review: The “Original” variety of Bossa Nova has undergone a transformation into a new package and formula. This time around, the product has a very smooth flavor thanks to a mixture of acai juice, agave, natural flavors, and citric acid. Admittedly, it’s not as strong as some of the competition and the pulp free base feels a bit more homogenized than some of the competing products (it also has no fat, which means that it’s clarified acai juice). Still, this product has marketability written all over it, especially with the very attractive 10 ounce bottle and label that the brand now uses. It’s easy to read, feels nice in the hand, and has a decided look of quality to it. Overall, a very enjoyable product.Reviewed on: 5/7/2009

BevNET Review: This agave-sweetened acai juice blend has little in the way of passion fruit flavor, tasting instead like a double-strength Cran-Grape. But it’s sweet and if you buy into the idea that high-antioxidant foods are going to extend your life, then it’s probably for you. The 10-oz. glass bottle has a kind of organic medicine jar feel; a wide mouth at the top inspires you to drink it down fast. The painted-on yellow and white label is fun and attractive. BevNET Review: With a hint of mango, this juice is almost a winner, but it’s thick as heck, with a syrupy mouthfeel that makes it more like a nectar than a juice. It’s still got a nice shot of acai and its accompanying antioxidant properties, and we do like the capsule-shaped widemouth bottle, as well as the painted label. But someone should figure out how to thin it out a bit to let the flavors breathe a bit more – it tastes too much like grape juice to really pull in the exotic crowd. Reviewed on: 1/24/2006
