Boylan's Natural Sodas: Black Cherry

Oh, My!

This is FAR more intense than the Black Cherry soda in the regular Boylan's line. In fact, it's so intense that you could almost serve it on pancakes! It's very sweet (cane sugar, of course) with strong black cherry predominating, but the ingredients also list bourbon vanilla and oil of bitter almond which add a distinctive creamy/nutty finish. I don't know of any other black cherry soda that has this combination of flavors, so I suspect it's unique; in fact, you could pretty much label it a "cherry almond creme." And like Virgil's excellent Black Cherry Cream, I think this soda is a sipper rather than a chugger--Boylan's other Black Cherry entry is better suited than this one to accompany meals. I'm crazy about all four entries in the Boylan's Natural Sodas line; if you have a Whole Foods near you, chances are pretty good you'll find it there (at least on the East Coast). They're worth seeking out if you want to try some really special beverages.
