BevNET Review: CaliCoco is not-from-concentrate coconut water that is cold filled and flash pasteurized. From a flavor perspective, CaliCoco is definitely one of the lighter bodied pure coconut water drinks that we’ve sampled. Despite being lighter, the product isn’t short on coconut flavor, but it tastes less sweet and salty than some of its competitors. However, CaliCoco definitely has a refreshing flavor profile and it’s very easy to drink. Packaging is a 12 oz. PET bottle that has a unique shape: round on the bottom before tapering off through its neck. Since our first look at this product, they’ve given it a pretty nice -- at least in terms of it being pleasing to the eye -- label upgrade. The new design is modeled after a green coconut with the top cutoff, but the white neck is disproportionately large in comparison to the rest of the design. This seems to be a move to allow for dual branding of Califia Farms and CaliCoco, which is confusing. In our opinion, they should dial down the Califia logo and try to build CaliCoco as the brand. Overall, a step in the right direction as the product looks more polished, but it’s still not 100% there. Reviewed on: 6/25/2012
