BevNET Review: CamuKaze is a dietary supplement that is billed as a “wild berry adaptogen energy shot.” Sold in the natural channel, its 4 oz. glass bottle is covered in health claims and ingredient callouts. Inside the bottle, the brownish liquid is mildly sweet, with agave acting as both the sweetener and a part of the flavor. Otherwise, the product has what we’d describe as an herbal flavor with a cherry finish. There’s also some grit to it, which might take some getting used to. Functionally, the product is loaded with herbal ingredients, but camu camu is the only one that really gets the spotlight. All of this adds up to high antioxidant content and loads of vitamin A and vitamin C. The only flaw we see with this approach is that they have failed to succinctly explain what makes this an energy shot. Visually, the product looks and feels like something that belongs exclusively in the natural channel. There’s really no effort to develop a brand, but instead the design seems to have a good-for-you bordering on medicinal approach. It’s easy to miss and the name of the product is hard to read. Improving upon these things will certainly help sales, regardless of where the drink is being sold. Overall, a unique and interesting product that could be refined further.Reviewed on: 8/13/2012
