Diet Cheerwine

Product Type: Carbonated Soft Drink: Diet; Container: various
BevNET Review: The diet version of Cheerwine is one of the tastiest diet beverages that we have ever had. You won't even think that you are drinking a reduced calorie beverage. Diet Cheerwine has the same cherry taste as regular Cheerwine, but it is sweetened with sucralose and Ace-K. Overall, this is a solid diet soda that won't let you down.

One of the worst diet sodas Ive had

I havent tried regular Cheerwine so I cant compare the two, but this was just really bad. Its very carbonated, though you have to drink it fairly fast because the drink goes flat very quickly for some reason. It doesnt taste quite a bad when its carbonated. When it goes flat however its undrinkable. The taste is a sickly sweet cherry flavor that reminded me a little bit of Dr Pepper also.

This is the one cherry soft drink I crave since I am diabetic and like the taste and smoothness of it. Whenever I go down south I make sure to bring a few bottles up to settle my cravings. I somehow got my wife to try it as well

Having been familiar with the various forms of Cheerwine for over 12 years, I was a bit skeptical about how the "New" Diet Cheerwine, sweetened with Splenda rather than Neutrasweet, would hold up. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. The flavor of the original formula holds up extremely well to the new sweetener, noticably missing that pert aftertaste evident with aspertame-based sweeteners, yet still pales in comparison to regular Cheerwine. It just lacks that 'bite' that the original has, and for me, without it, it's just cough syrup. Two other things to note about it: A: It tends to fizz dramatically when opened, bubbling like magma for upwards of a minute. Possibly a side effect of the Splenda, and B: It goes flat much, -much- quicker than before. Standing in a glass, expect it to be carbonated for five minutes, if not less. It fairs better in a bottle, but you had might as well throw it away afterwards, or it really -is- nothing but cough syrup. Overall, it retains the Cheerwine taste, but it you're not counting your calories (or carbs...) just reach for the original.
