Caveman Food’s Organic Probiotic Water Kefir is a fermented sparkling drink that delivers light flavor and probiotic benefits. In this case, they’ve flavored the product with saffron (yes, saffron is actually an ingredient), which leads to a mellow, but unidentifiable, herb like flavor. It does a nice job of complementing the vinegar like taste of the fermentation. The drink has a splash of sweetness to it, which further helps to cut the fermented flavor. Ultimately, the product drinks like an adult-oriented CSD. All things considered, this is a very drinkable product -- and probably the most drinkable product out there when it comes to kefir drinks. On the packaging front, we like their choice of a 10 oz. glass bottle and a clear label. The name, “Caveman Foods”, works in the sense that “Caveman” implies that this is a product that has been around for ages (a true statement for kefir). However, the word “Foods” makes us wonder if this is part of a larger food company? (This doesn’t appear to be the case) In any event, making it feel more like a beverage than part of something bigger would help the product. Finally, the visual design could use some improvement in the sense that the logo feels disconnected from the rest of the front panel. Overall, a really good option as far as kefir drinks go.
