Review: Green Tea Aloe Vera

Posted: Sep 06, 2011 at 9:39 AM (Last Updated: Oct 05, 2011 at 1:16 PM)
Chan Tea’s Green Tea & Aloe Vera is a very enjoyable pairing of two flavors that might not intuitively go together. The grassiness of the green tea helps cut the sweet and viscous aloe vera juice, leaving something that has a lot more depth to it than most of the other aloe vera offerings that we’ve sampled so far. The product clocks in at 80 calories and 17g of sugar per 8 ounces (1.5 servings per bottle), which obviously doesn’t make this a low calorie drink, but it’s definitely a modest spot to be. Packaging is an 11.5 oz. PET bottle that is filled in Taiwan. The majority of the bottle is wrapped with something that looks very much like a stereotypical aloe vera drink. The treatment of the logo, which has light green “n” and a darker color for the rest of the products, is something that we’re not overly fond of. Otherwise, the look of the product is just okay -- it feels about on par with the rest of the aloe vera category, which is not known for its high quality designs. Overall, the flavor of this product is, as far as aloe vera drinks go, extremely enjoyable, but we wish that the packaging were executed at that same level.
