Review: Pineapple

The Pineapple flavor of Chimp Food is, like its other flavors, made with 25 “whole super foods” that have been used in their full form. This means that the company has blended everything, including the skins, stems and seeds, into this high pressure processed product. So what’s in it, and what does it taste like? Well, we’re not going to list all of the ingredients, but they run the gamut of fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds, including ingreients like bananas (it’s chimp food, after all), watermelon, and mangoes to things that you wouldn’t expect to find in a beverage (asparagus, pumpkin, pine nuts). The resulting product is gritty and thick, but the flavor is, for the most part, quite pleasing. It tastes very much like a berry and banana smoothie, but with subtle earthy and vegetable notes. Perhaps the only thing that we really question is the addition of stevia, which seems to linger at the finish and, at least for some consumers, undermine the “whole super foods” angle that the company has taken. Otherwise, we really think that this product is a winner and very well-executed. On the outside, the product has a brand that really stands out. It's certainly the only brand using a chimp of its label, and it also helps create engagement with the product. Our only suggestion is to make the flavor name a bit more prominent. Overall, a very unique product that’s definitely worth a try.
