BevNET Review: While we’re not quite sure what the word “Strong” is supposed to imply, this is a very drinkable berry flavored energy drink. Like the cranberry flavor, it’s tart, but with more sweet notes, and there’s also a bit of citrus to the finish. This results in a drink that has a bit more bite than the other flavors, which is something that might be more appealing than the cranberry flavor to certain drinkers. On the outside, the product has a dark red backdrop that blends nicely with the red and gold Ciclon logo. And, like the other flavors, bilingual packaging is definitely a plus. BevNET Review: Ciclón Energy Drink has been around a few years now and while it’s a Red Bull-style product, it’s a pretty decent one with a decent Hispanic following. Using sugar helps give it a slight point of differentiation versus much of the competition, while Spanish labeling will helps continue to make this product easily identifiable with Spanish-speaking consumers. On the other hand, now that Ciclon has other flavors in its lineup, we probably wouldn’t pick this one from the bunch. BevNET Review: Using a touch of sugar, ace-k, and aspartame, this product manages to deliver a low-calorie and low-carb profile without the sweetener aftertaste. It’s a similar style flavor to the original, meaning that it has that classic Red Bull-style flavor, but it does drink better than many competing sugar free energy drinks. On the outside, we thought the green can meant that this was a citrus flavor, but prime placement of the word “Light” should be sufficient for consumers who aren’t familiar with the product. Spanish labeling is another point of differentiation, although we think that the design of the product could use a bit more personality. BevNET Review: The Cranberry flavor of Ciclon is the best addition to the lineup, and definitely the most memorable of the bunch. Delivering a slightly tart, slightly sweet cranberry flavor, this variety scores high in the drinkability category while also managing to deliver a decent amount of energy kick. It’s sweetened with sugar, which gives the product a light mouth feel and a clean finish. A fairly standard looking energy cocktail provides the boost, which results in a product that’s not only refreshing but energizing. Last, but not least, comes the packaging, which uses a vibrant red and gold color scheme and a cleanly designed front panel. BevNET Review: X-Press-O is Ciclon’s spin on a coffee energy drink, which is, unlike most other coffee + energy products, a dairy-free entry. In that sense, our best point of reference is an espresso soda. It’s mildly carbonated and has a surprisingly good coffee flavor and a mild energy flavor to round things out. Overall, it’s a good entry – assuming you don’t mind the lack of dairy. On the packaging front, we’re on board with it, with the exception of the name, “X-Press-O.” Keeping it simpler and more readable would be better in our opinion. Reviewed on: 2/25/2009
