Cintron Fruit Drinks and Teas

Manufacturer's Brand Overview [Edit]

Cintron Beverage Company began in 2006 with a simple idea—introduce a great tasting line of beverages with Latin inspired flavors tantalizing enough to seduce the mass market. From this idea, Cintron Liquid Energy was born. Cintron Liquid Energy’s success was followed by the introduction of great tasting teas and ades.

Strawberry Hibiscus

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 14 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Despite the fancy sounding name, Cintron’s Strawberry Hibiscus flavor tastes almost like a raspberry flavored tea. The base of this drink is black tea, not hibiscus, which might mislead consumers who are seeking a caffeine free herbal tea. Plus, the differences in flavor between this variety, Tamarind, and Mandarin Raspberry are too subtle to justify three unique flavors. It would simply be easier – and probably sell more tea – if they just had a really good raspberry variety (or perhaps a tamarind raspberry blend). As it stands right now, this product, while acceptable, isn’t something that would create a loyal consumer base. On the design front, the 14 ounce glass bottle is the best looking bottle that Cintron has done yet, but it still needs work. Specifically, the stock cap and the logo, both of which greatly undermine their hard work creating the reworked brand image. Overall, it’s a good product, but it’s not a standout product.Reviewed on: 7/6/2011

Toronja Iced Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 14 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Toronja, which is grapefruit in Spanish, is the closest thing to black tea with lemon that the Cintron lineup has. Why they didn’t call it that, we don’t know – it doesn’t have grapefruit juice and the flavoring doesn’t taste that much different than lemon flavoring. Otherwise, Toronja is a sugary black tea beverage, which is highly comparable to other products in the space. Packaging is a 14 ounce glass bottle, which has what we’d describe as a washed out retro style. The logo, which has a blackletter font that looks very similar to Corona beer, doesn’t really go with the graphic style of the rest of the bottle. If the logo were different, the product might feel like a more cohesive package. Overall, we like the flavor of the product and the rebranding effort is definitely better than Cintron’s prior efforts, but they need to fully commit to their new look and change the logo.Reviewed on: 7/6/2011

Peach Mango Green Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 14 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Made with a base of black and green tea, this product fits the ubiquitous “peach tea” spot that every RTD tea line has. In this case, the base of tea is pretty smooth, with the green tea helping to cut the otherwise heavy flavor that black tea provides. The peach and mango flavors are there, but somewhat restrained, with the peach hitting you on the front and the mango at the finish. The label also mentions the product’s use of honey and ginseng, but those aren’t flavors that are easily distinguishable from the mix. Finally, the product is sweet -- 17g of sugar and 70 calories per serving. On the packaging front, this is definitely the best looking design that we’ve seen from Cintron to date. However, it feels half-done, with the logo visually at odds with the rest of the design. If they can figure out a way to connect these more, then we think they go pretty far with this product.Reviewed on: 7/6/2011

Pineapple Ginger Green Tea

Product Type:Tea: Sweetened; Container: 14 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Of the reworked Cintron lineup, Pineapple Ginger Green Tea is our favorite flavor; it's unique and it tastes quite good, one of the few flavors that is crave worthy after the first sip. However, we would like to see black tea, which is also used in the product, mentioned in the flavor name alongside green tea. Visually, the product’s new look is upscale/natural, with the exception of the logo, which, unlike the rest of the design, has not changed since their last rendition. Otherwise, the ambiguous “taste the difference” tagline seems like something that doesn’t really help sell the product and the stock cap undermines the sophisticated look of the bottle. Ultimately, it’s all about making the product look like one cohesive unit. Cleaning up some of these loose ends would be a great place to start. Overall, the best flavor of the line, but not without a few flaws. Reviewed on: 7/6/2011
