BevNET Review: Having set the bar absurdly high with their glass packaged flagship product, Cocoa Metro has recently added a plastic (HDPE) single serve bottle to their lineup. The recipe is still the same and what’s inside the bottle is truly second to none in terms of delivering rich, high quality chocolate flavor. The beverage is made with reduced fat milk, but it’s still very indulgent: each 8 oz. serving has 240 calories, 30 g of sugar, and 7 g of fat. But if it’s indulgence or a chocolate fix that you are after, the product is a solid choice to reach for. We really can’t think of any way to make what’s inside the bottle better than it currently is. From the visual end of things, a wrapped plastic bottle is certainly not as visually stunning as their glass format. However, compared with the competition in plastic bottles, we think that they’ve done a very nice job of creating something that looks super premium and is very appealing to the senses (unless perhaps you have something against Belgian chocolate). The center of the label is the best part of the label, with a design that leans towards minimalism. However, the paragraph of text at the bottom of the bottle is something that we could live without. It’s formatted almost as if it were disclaimer or warning text. In addition, the wording around the neck is at the same level as the production stamp, which makes it hard to read this text. Beyond that, there are some minor kinks in how the label was printed (it’s out of proportion -- a technical issue with the sleeve wrap most likely), but nothing that really impacts the enjoyment of the product. Overall, Cocoa Metro’s plastic bottle format is at the top of our list when it comes to chocolate milk.Reviewed on: 3/20/2013
