Joining the somewhat limited ranks of coconut water packaged in glass bottles is Coco Fresco, a Vietnam sourced coconut water. The package does not address whether this is from concentrate or not, instead listing the ingredient simply as “100% coconut water.” Regardless of what it comes from, the flavor of this product is definitely not up to snuff with what’s already on the market. The flavor of the product doesn’t have that lightly sweet and salty flavor that you’ll find in the not from concentrate products and it has a strange coconut flavor that tastes almost like candy. Plus, there’s an almost vanilla like aftertaste that is less than desirable. We’re not sure how this product went so far off track, but the bottom line is that there are far better tasting products on the market today. And honestly, we feel pretty much the same way about the appearance of the product. Yes, there are probably some retailers and consumers who will grab a glass bottle over a carton or a can, but Coco Fresco really doesn’t feel like a developed brand. Instead, it seems to be trying to play it safe, using a pretty basic look that very much fits the mold of coconut water (complete with the overused word “coco”). Overall, Coco Fresco is a product that definitely needs some work.
