Review: Black Cherry Vanilla

Seriously, how do they come up with this stuff? The latest of Coke's cola extensions is Black Cherry Vanilla Coke -- what a mouthful, both literally and figuratively. The flavor is -- surprise, surprise -- a combination of Vanilla Coke and a slightly mellow rendition of Cherry Coke. If you're someone who enjoys Vanilla Coke and Cherry Coke, or you believe that there's something new and exciting about every new cola produt that Coke or Pepsi bring to market, this product is for you. However, most of America will probably not even know that this product ever existed. The novelty of Coke & Pepsi's flavor extensions has worn off, so the PR behind this is nothing compared to the first couple of rounds. Plus, this flavor is really a bit of a stretch. Consumers won't be able to get a sense of the flavor until they try it and they'll have a tough time doing so when the plain jane can gets stuck in the cooler. Coke needs to start coming up with something more original if they want people to be excited about its cola brand. Enough said.
