Black Currant Blueberry Nectar

BevNET Review

Last Updated: 2/4/2009 1:47 PM

For a drink that brags about the antioxidant superiority of black currants over blueberries, it seems quite interesting that they have a blueberry flavor to the lineup. On the other hand, this is the best tasting flavor of the line. The sweetness of the added blueberry juice does a nice job of countering the tartness of the black currants. The result is something that's flavorful, but not too strong, with pleasant fruit flavor throughout. Still we have issues with the product's calorie count (300 per bottle) and carbohydrates (76g), and the product's meager nutritional panel (since antioxidants aren't quantified) relies mainly on added vitamin C. Lastly, we're simply not sure why something that's as niche as black currant juice needs a lineup of six flavors. In our opinion, this one's a keeper -- but we're not so sure about many of the others.
