DASANI(R) - the water that makes your mouth water - announced today the launch of DASANI Plus(TM) vitamin-enhanced flavored water beverages that deliver on the great-taste promise of the DASANI brand with added nutrients and zero calories per serving. The line, now available in stores nationwide, comes in three varieties: -- Refresh + Revive: Kiwi Strawberry Flavor has 10% of the reference daily intake (RDI) per serving of Vitamins B3, B6 and B12. -- Cleanse + Restore: Pomegranate Blackberry Flavor contains 10% of the RDI per serving of Vitamins E, B3, B6 and B12, plus 1 gram of fiber. -- Defend + Protect: Orange Tangerine Flavor provides 10% of the RDI per serving of Vitamin E and Zinc. "The time was right to build on the success of the DASANI brand and its great-taste promise, and to create the fresh-tasting enhanced water DASANI Plus," said Brian Kelley, Coca-Cola North America President and General Manager, Still Beverages. "DASANI enhanced water beverages are a real 'Plus' for consumers seeking great taste, zero calories, and added nutrients." DASANI Plus is packaged in distinctive 20 fl. oz. single serve PET bottles with a clear shrink-wrap label. Available on shelf and in coolers in supermarkets, convenience and other retail stores, DASANI Plus suggested retail price will be competitive within the enhanced water category.

BevNET Review: This is the best tasting variety of the Dasani Plus lineup, which is a result of the berry flavor masking some of the artificial sweetener taste. On the other hand, we take issue in calling this a "pomegranate blackberry flavor" as there's not pomegranate taste or juice/extract in this product. It seems like a marketing ploy more than anything else. Otherwise, this product has the same issues as the other varieties, namely bad packaging and an intended function that will be hard for the consumer to swallow. Reviewed on: 6/29/2007

defend and protect orange tangerine

BevNET Review: As indicated by the orange coloring, Defend + Protect is the orange and tangerine variety of the Dasani Plus lineup. We're not really convinced that consumers will be lured in by the function of the product, but will likely pick this more for the color than anything else. The flavor is, unfortunately, a major letdown. It starts off with some citrus flavor, but it then immediately turns into an overwhelming dose of artificial sweeteners. Like the other varieties, the front panel of the label needs some serious cleanup. In summary, this product needs some major help.Reviewed on: 6/29/2007

BevNET Review: Dasani Plus' "refresh + revive" variety is a kiwi strawberry flavored formulation. Using a blend of ace-k and sucralose, the product drinks very much like other Coke products. Simply put, this non carbonated product has an unpleasant flavor and some serious aftertaste. We found it very hard to get past. The packaging, which uses a different style bottle than other products in Coke's portfolio, would be much better if a good portion of the text were stripped off. It's simply too confusing to tell what's going on -- or what the benefit of this product is. Overall, we really didn't like this product.Reviewed on: 6/29/2007
