BevNET Review: Featuring the uncommon blend of high fructose corn syrup and aspartame, Dr Pepper Ten is, as the name less than subtly states, a ten calorie (per serving) diet CSD. From a flavor perspective, we’re not sure what they are trying to do, with a taste that is likely not going to please consumers of either regular Dr Pepper or Diet Dr Pepper. While the product targets a male consumer, the entire premise seems to be based on the belief that men don’t like the word “diet." But that doesn't mean that men are likely to enjoy the artificially sweetened flavor found here. The packaging feels like a lazy effort to create something that’s not far from the mold of other Dr Pepper flavors, but in this case, they’ve put “10 bold tasting calories” on the front panel. This feels like an odd move especially in light of the fact that just to the left of this text is a badge pointing out that the bottle contains 20 calories. So why not call it Dr Pepper “Twenty?” That would probably be more appropriate -- and unique. Overall, we’re less than impressed with this product – it feels like something that should have been brought to market 6 or 7 years ago when Coke and Pepsi were constantly putting out CSD line extensions.
