BevNET Review: This is an effective version of Dry Soda’s line of adult-oriented CSD’s in that it’s got a nice sweet-sour rhubarb taste, as well as a mellow golden character that easily complements the product’s clear bottle. Rhubarb is actually an appealing flavor for a soda at first glance, and this is a solid single in terms of performance. To really make it an extra-base hit, however, we’d like more sugar and more taste. That would be rhubarb-eriffic.

A little more fetching than normal soda

We enjoy the Rhubarb flavor of Dry soda - it's worth every bit of the four-and-a-half (rounded up to 5) stars. At 60 cal., a bit of natural sugar cane for sweetness, and the light sweet-tart flavor, we like it better than regular soda. I enjoy the rhubarb flavor, and this comes from a confessed rhubarb-hater - I don't touch the stuff whether it's in jam, jelly, pie, or most other forms (so this soda makes me a hypocrite). What we especially enjoy is the feeling of drinking lightly flavored pop/soda; it has a "dry" after-taste instead of the sticky, sickly sweet coated feeling of regular soda. The carbonation + light sweetness is refreshing. I prefer rhubarb over the kumquat, but we haven't tried the lemongrass or lavender yet.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. I would have given it 4 star review if it wasn't for the sheer uniqueness of this drink. I have to admit, I am not going to drink this everyday yet it will be the perfect drink when I am in the right mood. I am used to these types of flavors in alcoholic drinks. I could see this being a replacement for a scotch or dry beer, yet you can easily chug this drink. I would have liked it to be a deeper flavor, maybe more spice or kick, yet that may just be me. It is the perfect amount of carbonation and sweetness in my opinion. I think anymore sugar would ruin some of the elements of this drink that I am drawn to. A great idea done well.
