Citrus Bliss

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Regular; Container: 12 oz can
BevNET Review: Citrus Bliss is the sugar sweetened variety of the Evo Positive Energy line. It features a very enjoyable tropical citrus flavor that’s moderately sweet and carbonated. There’s very little energy aftertaste, but instead the product has a bit of “vitamin” flavor which isn’t nearly as bad. Evo Citrus Bliss is crisp and clean, with a flavor that has a nice balance of refreshing and functional flavors. Speaking of functionality, the product features a variety of ingredients, including B vitamins, caffeine, taurine, vitamin C, green tea extract, and bromelain. It doesn’t really seem to impact the taste (aside from that slight vitamin note that we mentioned earlier) and there’s a decent kick from it. On the outside, the product looks good, but the front panel has a lot going on with it, including a list of ingredients, a tagline “positive energy” and the flavor name “Citrus Bliss.” It’s a lot for the eye to make sense of, especially with the swirls of color that are running behind the text. In our opinion, making the logo easier to read and perhaps shrinking the list of benefits might help the consumer read this more quickly. In addition, the EVO logo doesn’t seem to fit with the rest of the design. Overall, this is a very enjoyable-tasting product, but another round of refinements would make it much better.

Sugar Free Pomegranate Acai

Product Type:Functional: Energy Drink: Diet; Container: 12 oz can
BevNET Review: Unlike many other sugar free energy drink entries, Evo’s Sugar Free variety isn’t just a sugar free version of the original (or Citrus Bliss, in their case). Instead, they’ve paired it with a different flavor, Pomegranate Acai, which seems like it works better than the citrus flavor might have. Sweetened with sucralose, the flavor is actually quite drinkable, with a touch of tart fruit flavoring on top of a pleasant tasting vitamin infused base. You can taste the sweetener, but it’s minimal compared to many other sucralose-sweetened drinks. All in all, it’s a pleasant experience when you factor in the flavor and the buzz. On the outside, the look is decent, but not quite there yet. The eye immediately goes to “Positive Energy” as opposed to the hard to read EVO logo. The list of functional ingredients seems like a good approach to helping differentiate it from other energy drinks, but it takes up too much space. The result is something that could use a bit more personality and better organization. Overall, a good effort that’s definitely enjoyable as far as sugar free energy drink entries go.
