BevNET Review: Filbert's Old Time Root Beer is a "draft style" root beer produced by Filbert's of Chicago. The brew is decent and offers a uniquely styled body that's not as sweet as many of the root beers on the market today. However, the other side of this is that the product does not have the same level of creaminess either. Basically, it's a decent brew that offers a good alternative to some of the heavier root beers that are commonplace in the category today. A slightly stronger body and cane sugar might help liven this product up a bit -- otherwise it's just an average quality root beer.

I'm lucky enough to live in the McKinley Park neighborhood, so I can stop down to Filbert's whenever I want and get a case of pop for $10. Its great! You can mix and match from any flavor they have available. The gentleman that works in the warehouse is super nice, and has been working for Filberts and living in the neighborhood for years. Every time I go, he has a story to tell. The pop is phenomenal, especially the root beer. I agree with a previous post - It's very smooth.

Smooth tasting Root Beer

This is one of the best tasting Root Beer's because it is lite but very smooth. It makes a good root beer float.
