There’s a lot of buzz -- at least on the bleeding edge -- about apple cider vinegar-based beverages. Fire Cider is one of the more unique approaches that we’ve seen in the space. The product, which is made with apple cider vinegar, honey, oranges, lemons, onions, horseradish, ginger, habanero, garlic and turmeric, has an insanely complex and spicy flavor. Each ingredient is a layer of flavor in its own right, with your palate getting a hit of each note along the way. It starts out with the fermented flavors, followed by a brief sweet note, and finally ends up with a lingering dose of spice. While the company mentions diluting it or taking it as a shot, it’s certainly not a bad product for sipping either; it would probably make a nice cocktail mixer as well. Whether you believe the hype about apple cider vinegar or not, you’ll definitely feel a jolt from consuming even a small amount of Fire Cider. As far apple cider vinegar drinks are concerned, taking the more concentrated approach seems like the right move for now. On the outside, the product’s apothecary-style bottle (completed with a retro illustrated label) feels like the perfect match for this type of product. It looks functional without having to state what the function is -- although the do attempt to do that in small print on the side of the bottle -- and curiosity will surely help engage consumers. However, it’s not a product that really seems to fit into a store cooler at this point, which could be an issue sown the line. All in all, a very unique and enjoyable product that is not short on flavor.
